Visit Wairarapa's spectacular limestone chasm. A stunning walk through the bush, chasm and Ruakokoputuna river. See the beauty of this native bush and limestone gorge. Experience the fossils, ferns, stalactites, waterfall, eels, wildlife and native birds.
YOU NEED TO KNOW
Walkers are to meet at the farm at least 10 minutes before their walk is due to leave to fill out health and safety paperwork. We will transport you from the house to the chasm and pick you up 3 hours later. Please wait to be picked up, do NOT attempt to walk home, we access the chasm through other peoples property and they do not want people walking over their land.
You are walking through the river! The Rocks are slippery and there are narrow tracks in places, with steep drop off. The water is 1 metre deep in places. Entry to the chasm is by a ladder, it is 8 metres long. There are places with Onga Onga (native stinging nettle). Do Not Touch! The walk not recommend for children under 6 yrs old.
Drones are not permitted in the chasm without permission from Patuna. This must be obtained at the time of your booking.
Cost is $30pp adults, school children $15pp.
Bookings are essential. Chasm walkers must book online.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring some lunch and a water bottle. First aid equipment such as sunscreen, antihistamine and plasters..Suitable clothing - shorts, warm top, closed toed shoes, change of clothes. You will get wet!
FINDING YOUR WAY
To find Patuna follow the map from Martinborough at the bottom of the website. It is an easier way than using Google maps.
Customers may cancel all or part of their walks up to a fortnight before the date of the walk. Patuna can cancel the walk almost always the reason will be weather related affecting either the river or the track out the start of the walk. If Patuna cancel a walk the information will be on the website and facebook by 6pm the evening before the walk at the latest. All payments made will be reimbursed in full on the next banking day.
